Is Multi XL right for my stable, yard or wash bay?

Multi XL is a great choice when you want a heavy, high-comfort loose-lay tile for larger horse areas. It is commonly used in stable boxes, day yards, open shelters, tie-up bays, wash bays, stable aisles, paddock entries and prepared outdoor areas.

It is especially useful where you want a softer, safer surface but do not want a full glue-down installation.

How comfortable is Multi XL compared with regular horse mats?

Can Multi XL go over crushed rock, road base or a natural base?

Yes. Multi XL can be installed over compacted bases such as crushed rock or road base and natural surfaces.

The base should be firm, even and well-compacted. In most cases, edging or containment is recommended so the tiles stay properly held in place.

Can Multi XL go over concrete or asphalt?

Yes. Multi XL can be installed over suitable concrete or asphalt where a loose-lay system is preferred.

Does Multi XL need to be glued down?

No. Multi XL is designed as a loose-lay tile over suitable prepared bases.

Each tile weighs approximately 54 kg, giving the system a solid, stable feel when installed correctly. Depending on the area, edging or containment may be needed to keep the tiles properly positioned.

Will Multi XL move around under horses?

When installed over the right base with suitable containment, Multi XL is designed to sit solidly in place as a heavy loose-lay system.

The approx. 54 kg tile weight helps provide stability, but base preparation, layout, edge restraint and the way the area is used all matter.

Is Multi XL suitable for wash bays?

Yes. Multi XL is highly anti-slip in wet and dry conditions, making it a strong choice for wash bays.

Does water or urine drain through Multi XL?

Multi XL can be used as a loose-lay system over prepared bases where drainage is part of the floor design.

The key is the base underneath. If water or urine needs somewhere to go, the area can be built with suitable fall, drainage and base preparation.

Will Multi XL reduce bedding use?

Yes. Multi XL will help reduce bedding requirements because the comfort and insulating qualities are built into the tile itself, rather than relying only on deep bedding to soften the stable floor.

Depending on the horse, stable setup, drainage and bedding routine, REGUPOL systems can reduce bedding use by up to 75%.

Do I still need bedding with Multi XL?

Most horse owners still use some bedding in stable boxes.

Multi XL provides the comfort and insulation underneath, while bedding can still help with absorption, routine and keeping the top surface dry. The benefit is that you can use far less bedding than you would over concrete or compacted ground.

Is Multi XL easy to clean?

Yes. Multi XL is designed for daily equine use and can be maintained with routine sweeping, hosing and wash-down cleaning.

How heavy is each Multi XL tile?

Each Multi XL tile weighs approximately 54 kg.

The tile is 2000 x 1000 mm, giving 2 m² of coverage per tile, with a product weight of approximately 27 kg/m². The weight helps Multi XL work as a practical heavy loose-lay system.

Can I install Multi XL myself?

Most customers install Multi XL themselves.

The most important part is the preparation. The base should be firm, level and compacted.

Is Multi XL better than standard stable matting?

Multi XL is a more specialised equine flooring system than standard stable matting.
