Where you want a removable system, or the area is built over a correctly prepared compacted base, heavier REGUPOL tiles such as Multi XL 30 mm or Stable 40 mm are designed for loose-lay use. REGUPOL has systems for concrete, asphalt, timber, steel and correctly prepared compacted bases, depending on the product. Aussie Gold is designed to be fully adhered over suitable hard bases, while heavier REGUPOL tiles can be used loose laid over suitable level concrete or properly prepared compacted surfaces. REGUPOL is noticeably more forgiving under hoof than many common horse mats. REGUPOL equiline Multi XL, Multi, Stable, Edge and Walkway sit at around 40 Shore A hardness, while many common matting products reviewed in the Australian market are around 63–65 Shore A. Yes. High grip in wet and dry conditions is one of the key reasons we recommend REGUPOL for horse areas. The surface is designed for equine use rather than relying only on deep dimples or aggressive patterns for traction. Yes. REGUPOL provides permanent cushioning and insulation under the horse, so bedding does not have to provide all of the comfort as well. In suitable stable setups, REGUPOL can reduce bedding use by more than 75%, depending on the horse, drainage, bedding routine and the product selected. For overnight stables, we generally recommend keeping a clean absorbent layer where the horse needs it. REGUPOL provides the permanent comfort underneath, while bedding can be used more for moisture management and the horse's lying preference. In wash bays, tie-up areas, aisles, horse walkers and other day-use areas, deep bedding is normally unnecessary.

Yes. Sound, level concrete is an excellent base for REGUPOL. For a permanent system, REGUPOL Aussie Gold can be fully adhered using REGUPOL's specialised equine adhesive system. REGUPOL Edge and Multi XL can also be used over suitable concrete where a tile system is preferred. The right option depends on whether the area is a stable, wash bay, walkway or another horse zone.

Not every slab needs exactly the same preparation. For fully adhered REGUPOL systems, the concrete should be assessed for moisture before installation. Where moisture protection is required, REGUPOL Barrier 99-101 is the epoxy moisture barrier used as part of the system. On larger or commercial projects, we recommend confirming the slab condition before the floor is installed.

Not with a correctly installed fully adhered REGUPOL floor. Because the flooring is fixed to the base, normal cleaning happens on top of the surface rather than by lifting mats to remove trapped bedding, urine or manure underneath. With loose-lay REGUPOL systems, the base, drainage and edge restraint are selected to suit the application so the floor remains practical to manage.

Day to day, sweep or blow off loose bedding and manure, then hose, scrub or wash the REGUPOL surface as required. In wet areas, remove hair, soap and fine grit regularly so the surface stays clean and grippy. Some REGUPOL loose-lay systems are straightforward for a capable owner once the base is properly prepared. Fully adhered systems need more care because substrate preparation, moisture, adhesive coverage and curing all affect the finished floor. For larger, wet or commercial equine areas, we normally recommend an experienced installer so the REGUPOL system performs as intended.

Over concrete or asphalt, REGUPOL equiline Aussie Gold fully adhered with the REGUPOL adhesive system is the product we most often recommend for a permanent wash bay. It gives you a fixed, high-grip, comfortable surface that is easy to hose and clean. Where a loose-lay system is required, REGUPOL Multi XL 30 mm or Stable 40 mm can suit the right base. For a permanent concrete walker, REGUPOL equiline Horse Walker Custom is our purpose-made system. It is precision-cut from REGUPOL Aussie Gold 12 mm to the walker's radius and fully bonded in place. Yes. REGUPOL has purpose-built options for outdoor yards, shelters, paddock entries and walkways. Multi XL 30 mm, Multi 43 mm and Walkway 43 mm are commonly considered depending on the base, drainage and traffic. REGUPOL is made as long-term equine flooring, not a short-life mat. Actual service life depends on the product, traffic, installation and maintenance, but there are strong Australian examples of REGUPOL performing for well over a decade.
